Saturday was the seventh annual Greenwich Town Party, an all-day musical festival held on the water at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park to welcome the Memorial Day weekend.

The event began under cloudy skies — but comfortably cool temperatures — at about 11 a.m. with kids activities and family-friendly music.

Preservation Jazz Band and Alabama Shakes were among the top acts along with the best local bands from Greenwich, keeping the music going all afternoon and into the evening from two stages.

The crowd grew throughout the day to about 8,000 by the evening in time for the headliners, Steely Dan.

Over a dozen restaurants and caterers set up tents — including Garden Catering, Bobby Q’s Pit Stop, Burgers, Shakes and Fries, Fjord Fish Market, Meli-Melo and Bistro Versailles, Asiana, Aux Delices and Longford’s Ice Cream — selling food to satisfy every appetite.

Greenwich Town Party Inc., a nonprofit organization, runs the event, which is funded through ticket sales and sponsorships.

An online auction is also underway through 6 p.m. Sunday, with over 200 items and experiences up for bid. Click here to view.
