If you've bought Doggie Wishbone pet treats, manufactured by Merrick Pet Care, Inc ., check the label. The box might be part of a recent recall due to possible salmonella contamination. The company is recalling 248 cases of the pet treats.
No illnesses have been reported, says the U.S. Food and Drug Administration , and no consumer complaints have been filed.
The recalled treats were shipped to distributors in 10 states. Those distributors then shipped the products to retailers and other distributors throughout the U.S. No other Merrick Pet Care products are included in this recall.
Pets infected with salmonella can show signs of lethargy. They might also have diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals and humans.
