Officials held a groundbreaking for the Wilton Demo Trail in November. After a rough winter, it is ready for the public to test it out.
The event starts at 9 a.m. with welcoming comments from supporters and an official ribbon-cutting. A "Paws on Parade Dog Walk" follows at 10 a.m. Kids can participate in a "Spuds on a Spoon Race" at 11 a.m. Prize drawings will be held at noon.
The event will be held at the trailhead, which can be found at the intersection of Route 7 and Route 106 in Wilton.
The Norwalk River Valley Trail project aims to build 38 miles of multi-purpose trail connecting Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, and Rogers Park in Danbury, passing through Wilton, Ridgefield, and Redding on the way.
The demo section runs 0.5 miles from near Wilton’s Orem’s Diner up to Raymond Lane. It is intended to show residents of the trail communities what a completed 38-mile, 10-foot-wide trail will look like.
