Im not one to look for an excuse not to cook, but its been so hot lately that I break a sweat just thinking about boiling a pot of water. Some local chefs are feeling the heat, too, and offering special no cook dinner deals.
For some, eating uncooked or raw foods is standard eating procedure, whatever the weather. And theres a growing movement of people devoted to only eating raw, touting the health and beauty benefits they enjoy.

And the Westport Whole Foods store is offering a raw food class, sharing preparation techniques, recipes and the nutritional science behind not cooking your food.
So, whether youre looking for a lifestyle change, or just cant stand the heat in the kitchen, midsummer might be the right time to explore raw foods.
