STRATFORD, Conn. — Let there be long dogs!

The wait is finally over in Stratford: the Cricket Car Hop — 2.0, if you will — officially opens for business  on Saturday.

The doors will open at 11 a.m. for the grand opening at the new site, 900 Access Road.

In case you’re new to Stratford, the original Cricket opened in the 1950s and became one of the town’s most iconic spots, serving up hot dogs, fries and tasty fare for decades until it closed in 2004.

Enter Stacey DiCostanzo, one of the Cricket cooks from 1980 until the end. She and business partner Ken Burns have lovingly built the new Cricket, which is a near replica of the original, albeit down the street a bit.

The building and menu look the same, and there’s even a pinball machine.

And the new Cricket offers outdoor seating and a drive-thru.

Cricket Car Hop will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
