Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau joined owner Debbie O’Toole, state Rep. Brenda Kupchick, as well as family, friends, and enthusiastic fans of the club at a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week for the fitness center’s official grand opening.

Urban Strength Club is located at 425 Kings Highway E.

O’Toole wants the gym to be about more than just fitness. “My goal is to create a supportive community that inspires, celebrates, and encourages members to be their best selves,” she said.

She attributes her success to the relationships she has formed with clients over the years. “Urban Strength Club will be a 'gym of the people' where people can build strength, make friends, and have fun,” she says.

Urban Strength Club offers group classes in strength training, yoga, Pilates, boot camps, and kickboxing. A team of experienced professionals there also offer personal training to clients at all levels of fitness. Class schedules and membership information can be found on the club’s website and Facebook page.

O’Toole shares her passion for fitness with her son, Michael Martire, who works at Urban Strength Club as a class instructor.

“It is truly inspirational to be in the company of entrepreneurs like Debbie, as small businesses like hers are the lifeblood of our community,” said Mark Barnhart, community & economic development director for Fairfield. "We are thrilled to have Urban Strength Club as a member of Fairfield’s growing business community and we wish her many years of success."
