NORWALK, Conn. — Searching for something to do on a hot summer day? Hoping for an activity that's fun and educational for the kids? Look no farther than the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, the top tourist attraction in Fairfield County.

The Maritime Aquarium always offers something to delight kids and adults of all ages. Check out its collection of fish and sea mammals as well as other exotic animals, including the sea tortoise and a bearded dragon. Or just see if you can "find Nemo" and spot Dory in the tanks. And the jelly fish are a lot more fun to watch spin inside their home at the aquarium than to spot on the beach. Don't forget the IMAX movies!

This summer, visitors can also enter the "Flutter Zone," an immersive walk-through butterfly exhibit with an accompanying IMAX movie.

Also, through Labor Day, See a baby black dragon – one of only an estimated 31 in the U.S. at the "Dragons! Real or Myth?" exhibit.

The aquarium also offers two-and-a-half hour study cruises out on Long Island Sound on a new 63-foot all-aluminum catamaran. Visitors can study marine life pulled from the Sound — from the water's surface straight down to the bottom.

Do something you've tried to not do all your life:  touch jellyfish at the Jiggle A Jelly exhibit, which is open daily in August.

For art lovers, the 19th International Children’s Art Exhibit is presented by Creative Connections in Norwalk and is displayed in the IMAX Theater lobby. The theme is “Picture the Moment," with drawings and paintings created by students in Grades 3 to 12. Kids from Connecticut – including dozens from schools in Fairfield County – are represented.

Admission to the aquarium is $19.95 for adults, $12.95 for children ages 3 to 12 and $17.95 for youth up to age 17 and seniors. Cruises cost $29.95 per person. IMAX movies.
