Hoffman and Girard will speak Thursday night at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Fairfield University awarded a limited number of seats to the talk to Fairfield residents selected through a random drawing in celebration of the town’s 375th anniversary.

In early March, Girard and Hoffman will begin filming several scenes from the independent movie at Fairfield University. Other filming around Connecticut will start in late February, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development reported.

Boychoir” is the story of a troubled and angry 11-year old boy from rural Texas who is admitted to a prestigious East Coast choir school. Completely out of his element, the chorister finds himself in a battle of wills with a demanding choirmaster, played by Hoffman, who recognizes a unique talent in this young boy and pushes him to find his creative self in music, according to IMDB.com.

Actress Kathy Bates is slated to play the school’s headmistress. Alfred Molina and possibly Sissy Spacek will join the cast as well.
