All are welcome to the exhibition, and admission is free.

Ackley was born and raised in New York City and currently lives in New Canaan. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Marymount Manhattan College and a master’s degree in clinical social work from New York University.

During the 1990s, Ackley ran her own catering business and in September 2006, she began her artistic journey by studying at the Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan.

Since then, she has studied under and worked with several renowned artists.

Recognized quickly for her meditative — and sometimes haunting — works,  Ackley specializes in oil on linen portraits, still life paintings, landscapes and pet portraits, according to a statement from the Geary Gallery of Darien.

She always paints from “live” subjects, never from a photo.

“The process of painting has been a journey in self-discovery,” Ackley said. “To me, everything emotes a mood, whether the object is organic or inanimate. Painting allows me entrance into that fascinating space, that space that I knew from the inside years ago."

Ackley is the model coordinator for the New Street Guild of Artists, a group she helped found in 2010. NSGA meets twice a week at  their Wilton studio and are exclusively dedicated to painting the model from life.

Ackley continues her artistic study both privately and in atelier settings.

She has had several solo and group shows in Connecticut, including Wilton, Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, Ridgefield and New Canaan.

She is also a member of the Silvermine Guild of Artists and Connecticut Women Artists, Inc.

Ackley has won multiple juried awards, including first prize in 2012 for "Teapots, Cup and Glass" at the New Canaan Society for the Arts, Spectrum Juried Exhibition.

All of Ackley's paintings displayed at the exhibition will be available for acquisition.

Geary Gallery is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
