Well, kind of. According to the scientists at Hershey Center for Health and Nutrition , chocolate has been proven to have more antioxidants than some of the so-called "super fruits," acai berries, cranberries and blueberries.
According to the study, published in Chemistry Central Journal , cocoa powder has more antioxidant capacity per gram than that of fruit powders. Similar results were recorded with comparisons between dark chocolate and cocoa to fruit juices.
As healthy as it's purported to be, chocolate should have a rightful place in healthy -- i.e., healthy -- daily diet, and it shouldn't be eaten exclusively at the expense of other healthful foods.
So, have some chocolate now and then preferably dark in addition to all the other healthful foods you eat, "super fruits" among them. Just don't go eating Snickers salads and Almond Joy appetizers. At least not too often.
Do you have a weakness for chocolate? Would you eat it even if Hershey didn't determine it to be good for your health? Let me know .
