NORWALK, Conn. – The Carver Foundation of Norwalk is celebrating its 75th anniversary Thursday with a reception in the Community Room at City Hall, 125 East Ave.
The foundation, established in 1938, serves economically challenged students and families with college prep afterschool programs, sports leagues and other educational, community and enrichment initiatives.
Its programs are run out of its Norwalk facility, 7 Academy St., and in the city’s four middle schools and two high schools, and among the foundation’s corporate sponsors are GE Capital, King Industries, Ring’s End, Stone Point Capital, Infinity Aviation, Northwestern Mutual and Pepperidge Farm.
In addition to Thursday’s reception, the foundation is also hosting a gala on May 17 at the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien honoring former St. Luke’s School headmaster Richard Whitcomb.
