The talk begins at 9:45 a.m. at the Middlesex Middle School Auditorium, 204 Hollow Tree Ridge Road in Darien.

YWCA Parent Awareness is a family-focused program that provides support and education to parents and children in order to encourage the healthy, positive development of youth and families.

This program will address the challenge of raising children and teenagers, and how to help children discover essential skills that will support and guide them. Some topics of discussion will include the common pitfalls of parenting and how shifting the focus from the child to the child’s character, attitude and full potential can benefit the entire family.

Laura Gauld, executive director of Hyde Boarding Schools in Maine and Connecticut and Head of School at Hyde-Bath, Maine, will be among the speakers.

She and her husband, Malcolm Gauld, are authors of "The Biggest Job We’ll Ever Have -- The Hyde School Program for Character-based Education." Copies of the book will be distributed free of charge.

Registration is recommended at ywcadariennorwalk.org and allows for notification of any program changes or parking information.
