NORWALK, Conn. – This weekend in Norwalk, a family fun day will be held in celebration of National Health Center Week, Sheffield Island will become a haunted house and a guided kayak tour will grace the water. Here is what’s happening this weekend.
Friday, Aug. 10
Fun Bus: 10 a.m. Children can play on a school bus with an entire gymnasium inside. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.
National Health Center Week Family Fun Day: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Celebrate National Health Center Week with this day of activities, including a jump roping contest, health and nutrition games and contests, yoga classes, blood pressure screenings and more. Norwalk Community Health Center, 120 Connecticut Ave.
Rowayton Farmers Market: Noon to 5 p.m. Pick up fresh fruit, vegetables and other items from local farmers and vendors. Pinkney Park, 1 Rowayton Ave.
Saturday, Aug. 11
Community Service Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kids and teens looking to complete community service can stop by the library to take part in a number of tasks, from cleaning and organizing to office work and program planning. Come by any time of day. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.
Friends of the Norwalk Islands Cookout Paddle: 10 a.m. Go on a guided kayak tour of Norwalk’s islands and then enjoy a cookout. Participation is $105. Boats launch from the Small Boat Shop, 144 Water St.
Haunted Sheffield Island Lighthouse: 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The lighthouse on Sheffield Island will be transformed into a haunted house, with activities for children and adults. Ferry tickets are $22 for adults, $12 for children ages 4 to 12, and $5 for children 3 and under. Ferry departs from Sheffield Island dock at Washington Street and Water Street.
Puppet Show: 11:30 a.m. Nappy’s Puppets performs a free production of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” East Norwalk Library, 51 Van Zant St.
