What's Happening In Norwalk This Weekend

NORWALK, Conn. - Shakespeare on the Sound, an outdoor family fun night and kayaking for charity are among the events taking place this weekend in Norwalk. 

Friday, July 20

Family Concert: 10 a.m. Join Phil Rosenthal for folk music and dancing at a free concert for families. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.

Story and Crafts: 4 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to come with their caregivers for a story and crafts. No registration required. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.

Outdoor Family Fun Night: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Bring the whole family for a night of games, activities, prizes, swimming, crafts, frozen yogurt and more. Admission is free for YMCA members and $2 for non-members. Norwalk YMCA, 370 West Ave.

Shakespeare on the Sound: 7:30 p.m. This year Shakespeare on the Sound presents "Romeo and Juliet" with a twist. A group of friends gather at a dinner party for an annual reading of the play, and over the course of the reading the story will take over. Admission is free, and there will be an education tent and pre-show children's performances. Pinkney Park, 1 Rowayton Ave.

Jam Cruise with the Malone Brothers: 8:15 p.m. Cajun brothers Tommy and Dave Malone will perform their country/rock blend with New Orleans jams aboard the Island Belle. General admission is $38. The Island Belle departs from Norwalk Harbor, 1 Seaview Ave.

Saturday, July 21

Kayak for a Cause: 7 a.m. Kayakers will join together to cross the Long Island Sound and raise money for their favorite charities, many of which protect the local environment. Registration is $100. Kayaks will depart from Shady Beach in Norwalk.

Open New Moon Celebration: 7 p.m. Mystical Parlors will host a celebration of the first new moon of the dark half of the year. It is suitable for all practitioners of Western Mysticism and shamanic traditions. A potluck feast will follow the celebration. Mystical Parlors, 17 Washington St.

Shakespeare on the Sound: 7:30 p.m. Shakespeare on the Sound presents another production of its unique take on "Romeo and Juliet." Admission is free. Pinkney Park, 1 Rowayton Ave.

Sunday, July 22

Shakespeare on the Sound: 7:30 p.m. Shakespeare on the Sound presents an updated take on "Romeo and Juliet" told through a group of friends gathering to read the play at a dinner party. Admission is free. Pinkney Park, 1 Rowayton Ave.
