What's Happening In Norwalk This Weekend

NORWALK, Conn. – Among the events in Norwalk this weekend are triathlons at Calf Pasture Beach, a Pirate Weekend at Sheffield Island and a puppet workshop for families.

Friday, July 13

Cactus Head Puppets: 10 a.m. The Cactus Head Puppets will perform the Pied Piper. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.

Animal Encounter: 1-2:30 p.m. Kids of all ages can come to the South Norwalk Branch Library and meet animals from the Darien Nature Center, including turtles, lizards, snakes and rabbits. South Norwalk Branch Library, 10 Washington St.

Saturday, July 14

Lightfoot Summer Series: 8 a.m. The Lightfoot Running Club hosts a 7-mile run. Brien McMahon High School, 300 Highland Ave.

Mini Mossman Youth Triathlon: 8 a.m. Kids ages 4-14 compete in swimming, biking and running in three age divisions. Calf Pasture Beach.

Accessibility Resource Day: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free and early admission to families of children with special needs. Local and statewide organizations will offer activities and answer questions. Stepping Stones Museum for Children, 303 West Ave.

Pirate Weekend: 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Norwalk Seaport Association celebrates Pirate Weekend on Sheffield Island. Take a round-trip ferry to the island and meet pirate re-enactors who will greet you with songs, storytelling and activities. Tickets are $22 for adults, $12 for children, $5 for kids under 3. Ferries depart from the Sheffield Island Ferry Dock at the corner of Washington and Water streets.

Puppet Workshop: Noon to 4 p.m. Families are invited to come down and help rebuild and create puppets for this year’s SoNo Arts Parade. Puppet Headquarters, 41 S. Main St.

Norwalk Summer Movies: 5:30 p.m. Families can enjoy a free screening of “Happy Feet 2,” along with demonstrations by Karate Universe. Calf Pasture Beach.

Sunday, July 15

Mossman Sprint Triathlon: 6:30 a.m. Swim a half-mile in the Sound, bike 12.5 miles and run 3.1 miles in this triathlon. Calf Pasture Beach.

Pirate Weekend: 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pirate Weekend continues on Sheffield Island. Tickets are $22 for adults, $12 for children, $5 for kids under 3. Ferries depart from the Sheffield Island Ferry Dock at the corner of Washington and Water streets.
