NORWALK, Conn. – This weekend, you will be able to cheer on cyclists and triathletes as they compete in Norwalk, and the kids will be able to test their soccer skills. Here are some events happening in Norwalk this weekend.

Friday, June 29

Nice to Meet You: An Introduction to Animals: 11-11:30 a.m. Children will get a chance to meet live mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects from Earthplace, and learn what they eat and how they live. South Norwalk Library Branch, 10 Washington St.

Eat and Be Eaten: Food Webs Explained: 1-1:45 p.m. Children will learn about predator/prey relationship and how nature keeps balance, complete with live animals from Earthplace. South Norwalk Library Branch, 10 Washington St.

Historical Miniature Gaming: 2-4:30 p.m. Visitors can re-enact the Battle of Talavera between the Anglo-Spanish and French armies in this game that uses miniature figurines and a historically accurate board. South Norwalk Library Branch, 10 Washington St.

Cheer On Charity Cyclists: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Come cheer on charity cyclists Marty Perlmutter and Diane Sawyer on mile 1,200 of their journey from Maine to Florida to raise money for the Multiple Myeloma Research Fund. Calf Pasture Beach.

Saturday, June 30

CHAIN Fund Breakfast and a Movie: 8 a.m. Enjoy a breakfast and a screening of the film “Sparkle,” starring Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks. Tickets are $25, with proceeds supporting the CHAIN Fund. Bow Tie Cinemas Sono Regent 8, 66 N. Main St.

A Cat's Place Open House and Adoption: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come check out the facilities and meet the veterinarians and staff of A Cat's Place. Local non-profits will be on hand with cats that are looking for a new home, and author Allia Zobel Nolan will be signing copies of her new book, "I'd Rather Be A Cat." Sunday, July 1

Mighty Moss Half Iron Triathlon: 6:30 a.m. Put yourself to the test with this 1.2-mile swim in Long Island Sound, a 56-mile bike ride through Fairfield County and a 13.1-mile run back into Norwalk. Calf Pasture Beach.

Red Bulls Skills Challenge Roadshow: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The New York Red Bulls invite all youth soccer players from ages 7-14 to test their skills at passing, dribbling shooting, turning and receiving. Winners will move on to the finals, and all participants will receive tickets to a Red Bulls game. Veterans Park, 2 Seaview Ave.
