Commemoration of Hiroshima/Nagasaki: 6:30 p.m. People for a Peaceful Tomorrow marks the anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with a reading of a letter by the mayor of Hiroshima and sharing information on nuclear weapons. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.

Fire Station Construction Ceremony: 2 p.m. The Norwalk Central Fire Station project celebrates a milestone as the last piece of structural steel is hoisted into place. City officials will be on hand to sign the piece of steel. Norwalk Fire Station, 121 Connecticut Ave.
Norwalk Night Out: 4 p.m. Norwalk Community Police work to make the community safer with food and fun for everyone at Ryan Park as part of National Night Out. The idea is to host a neighborhood block party to connect the neighborhood and show criminals that the community is united.
