What To Do In Norwalk This Weekend

NORWALK, Conn. – The events in Norwalk this weekend include the annual Fire and Public Works Open House, a 5k between the two libraries and a walk for Alzheimer’s. For a full listing of events, check out our Events page.

Friday, Sept. 28

Ringling Brothers Clowns : 10:30 a.m. Ringling Brothers clowns Joel Jeske and Watson Kawecki will be at the library reading stories and providing entertainment for kids. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.

Rowayton Farmers Market : Noon to 5 p.m. Pick up fresh fruit, vegetables and other items from local farmers and vendors. Pinkney Park, 1 Rowayton Ave.

Saturday, Sept. 29

Fire and Public Works Annual Open House : 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn about fire trucks and meet the Norwalk firefighters while taking part in hands-on activities and demonstrations. Free Public Works Center, 15 South Smith St.

Family Fun Fest : 1 to 5 p.m. There will be food, entertainment, raffles, games, auctions, prizes and more. $5. Norwalk YMCA, 370 West Ave.

Chinese Moon Festival : 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Festival with a Chinese lunch, mythology and traditional music from China performed by Junling Wang, a guzheng player with the Henan Provincial Opera. Free. South Norwalk Library, Branch, 10 Washington St.

South Norwalk Community Day : 3 to 7 p.m. The first annual South Norwalk Community Day is designed to bring members of the community together, with a focus on informing residents on the services and programs available to them. There will be a basketball tournament, storytelling, free food, a program and services fair and music. Free. Ryan Park, Day Street.

Sunday, Sept. 30

Run Between the Libraries 5K : 9 a.m. Take part in a 5k family run/walk between the Main Norwalk Public Library and the South Norwalk Branch. There will be a bluegrass concert by Phil Rosenthal. $14. Starts at Main Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s : 9 a.m. The Laurel Ridge Health Care Center and the Alzheimer’s Association host a walk to raise funds and awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Participation is free but donations are accepted. Calf Pasture Beach.

Kayak Tour to Chimon Island : 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Take a kayak trip to Chimon Island off the coast of Norwalk for a tour by David Park of the Norwalk River Watershed Association. The event is $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Kayakers meet at the Small Boat Shop, 144 Water St.

Uncapped: A Writing Experience : 4 to 5:30 p.m. Poet and author Drew Lamm will lead this interactive writing lecture. $15. Rowayton Arts Center, 145 Rowayton Ave.
