What To Do In Norwalk This Week

NORWALK, Conn. – Coming up in Norwalk this week are the annual Stew Leonard’s Christmas tree lighting and a couple of fundraisers. Check out our Events calendar for more items.

Monday, Nov. 26

New Fire Boat Commissioning: 10 a.m. The Norwalk Fire Department will commission its new boat, Marine Unit 238. Public officials will speak, followed by a reception. Veteran’s Memorial Park, 42 Seaside Ave.

Tuesday, Nov. 27

Christmas Tree Lighting: 5:30 p.m. Stew Leonard’s celebrates the holidays with its annual Christmas tree lighting. The Sawbuck Band will perform, Santa and Mrs. Claus will give out candy canes to kids and there will be free hot cocoa and cookies. Stew Leonard’s, 100 Westport Ave.

Wine for the Holidays: 7 p.m. Norwalk resident and wine expert Jordan Ross will suggest wines appropriate for the holiday season. South Norwalk Branch Library, 10 Washington St.

Thursday, Nov. 29

Cocktails for a Cause: 5:30 p.m. Small-plate tastings by local eateries, a silent auction, gift baskets and a raffle, with all proceeds going to benefit the Sunshine Kids. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Klaff’s, 28 S. Washington St.

College Panel for Parents and Students: 6 p.m. The Norwalk Education Foundation presents a discussion on topics such as the common application, writing college essays and financial aid. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.

Arctic Explorers John Huston and Toby Thorleifsson: 6 p.m. John Huston and Toby Thorleifsson will preview their 2013 expedition across 630 miles of untouched wilderness on Ellesmere Island in the Canadian Arctic. Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, 10 N. Water St.

Friday, Nov. 30

Cocktails for a Cause: 7 p.m. Enjoy martinis, wine, beer and gourmet pizza at this benefit for Side by Side School and the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. $50 per person. The Loft, 97 Washington St.

Tallis Scholars Concert: 7:30 p.m. The Tallis Scholars will perform their unique Renaissance sacred music. $40 per person. St. Paul’s on the Green, 60 East Ave.
