Board of Estimate & Taxation: 5:30 p.m. Fiscal Year 2013-14 budget review session. Among the budgets to be looked at include the mayor’s and corporation counsel’s offices and the Health Department. Tuesday, March 5

Opening Reception of “Essence: Contemporary Landscapes and Abstracts": 6:30 p.m. ARTWorks  exhibit features works by Carla Wales. Modern landscapes in oil and metal leaf, are shown alongside monoprints, marked by natural forms and abstracts intuited by color. Free. St. Paul’s on the Green, 60 East Ave., Norwalk.

Wednesday, March 6

Norwalk Symphony & Norwalk Youth Symphony Perform Preview Of “Peter and the Wolf”: 5:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended for the performance. Free. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave. Norwalklib.org.

Thursday, March 7

CancerCare’s Girls’ Night Out!: 6 to 9:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment, shopping opportunities and a silent auction to support CancerCare’s free professional support services and financial support for adults, children and families affected by cancer.
