Volunteers Needed For Norwalk CT Food Bank 5K

NORWALK, Conn. -- Volunteers are needed for the Connecticut Food Bank Miles For Meals 5K Race set for Sunday, June 5, at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.

There are opportunities for adults and young adults to volunteer with their parent or guardian on race day with shifts starting at 6:30 and 7:15 a.m. 

The shifts concludes at 11 a.m. when the race ends. Volunteers will direct parking, and help with the following:

  • Event registration and pre-registration
  • Food/water distribution
  • Staff the finish line
  • Staff water stations
  • Split callers (announce pace times to runners)
  • Handle on-course traffic and on-course pointers

“Volunteers power the work of the Connecticut Food Bank. We could not fulfill our mission without that generous gift of time," said Kim Damien, Connecticut Food Bank Volunteer Coordinator.

The race is on a flat course through Calf Pasture Beach and the Norwalk waterfront. 

Packet pickup and race day registration is at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8:30 a.m.

There will be a post-race party at 9 a.m., and awards ceremony at 10 a.m.
