U.N. Official To Discuss Iraq, Syria Crisis At Norwalk Community College

NORWALK, Conn. -- Darko Mocibob, deputy director of the United Nations Middle East and West Asia Division, will discuss the "The Current Crisis in Iraq and Syria" at Norwalk Community College on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 11:30 a.m.

Key issues such as the emergence of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the refugee situation and human rights violations will be covered.

Mocibob has held a number of significant Iraq-related positions at the United Nations since 1997, when he joined the office of the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Baghdad. He then went on to serve in the UN Office of the Iraq Program at the United Nations headquarters in New York in 1999.

The lecture will be held in the college’s East Campus GenRe Forum located at 188 Richards Ave.

The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.
