Victim Slashed On Throat With Bottle Critical, Central Jersey Man Charged, Police Say

A Central Jersey man was arrested for slashing another man's throat with a bottle, leaving him critical during an argument Saturday night, authorities said.

Perth Amboy police responding to 375 New St. found the 31-year-old resident with a gash across his throat around 9 p.m., Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Acting Perth Amboy Police Chief Larry Cattano said.

An investigation found that Josue Jeronimo had been fighting with the man when he cut his throat with a bottle, authorities said.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment where he remains in critical condition.

Jeronimo was being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick pending an initial court appearance.

He was charged with second-degree Aggravated Assault, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a weapon for an incident that occurred last night.
