You have to wonder how much time Harlan Jacobson spends watching movies. An author and film critic, for thirty years his reviews and profiles have appeared in The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post and Film Comment Magazine, among other publications. And when he's not watching a movie or writing about one, he's on the road in search of one. Jacobson travels the world to film festivals and advance screenings, to preview the latest international crop of cutting edge films. Luckily, as the founder/organizer of Talk Cinema , he shares these movie gems with film afficionados. Talk Cinema is a film series that couples screenings of the new, provocative films Jacobson finds with post-screening discussions. At each one, a film scholar, director, critic or actor provides fascinating insights into the film shown.
Fortunately, a new season of Talk Cinema starts on September 23, when the 10-session series returns to The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. Previous seasons have included Slumdog Millionaire, The Kite Runner,Brokeback Mountain, Cadillac Records, and the recent hits The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo, An Education, Men Who Stare at Goats and Maos Last Dancer. Tickets are $20. For more information and to buy tickets, log onto The Performing Arts Centers website .
