Stamford's Avon Theatre Hosts Film Festival Of Oscar-Nominated Shorts

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford's Avon Theatre is set to kick off it annual monthlong film festival of Oscar-nominated movies.

The festivities get underway at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, with the Oscar-nominated live action shorts, including "Helium," "The Voorman Problem," "Just Before Losing Everything," "That Wasn't Me" and "Do I Have To Take Care of Everything." The films will also be shown at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 11 and at 8 p.m. Feb. 27. 

The Oscar-nominated animated shorts start at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2. with "Get A Horse," "Mr. Hublot," "Feral," "Possessions" and "Room on the Broom." The films will also be shown at 8 p.m. Feb. 11 and at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 27. 

The Oscar-nominated documentary shorts will run at 11 a.m. Feb. 8. The shows include "The Lady In Number 6: Music Saved My Life," "Karma Has No Walls," "Facing Fear," "Cave Digger" and "Prison Terminal." 

Tickets are free for Carte Blanche Members, $6 for members and $11 for nonmembers. Film badges can be purchased for entry into the entire month of films for $35 for members and $75 for nonmembers.

There is a special discount price of $8 for children, students and seniors for the family film "Despicable Me 2." Each category of the shorts programs (live action, animated and documentary) will be a separate admission ticket.
