Savor The Spicy Sights & Sounds At The Caribbean Jerk Fest In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — You can savor a taste of the islands as the 11th annual Caribbean Jerk Fest dishes up music, fun, food and more at The Ballpark At Harbor Yard in Bridgeport.

The event, which will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, is sponsored by the West Indian-American Association of Greater Bridgeport. 

The day will consist of reggae music, merchandise items and West Indian food for sale. 

DJ Rulertone will provide music throughout the event, and the headliner is Anthem Reggae Band. In addition, JAH Movement, Scrappy Ranks & Royal Steel Band will perform. 

Dance groups from Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County, District 4 and The Klein Dancers will perform again this year. Other performers include Alicia Thompson, Asha and DJ Gregory. Browne Sugher and Patrick Kelly will serve as MC's. 

Radio stations WNLK-AM 1350 and 1400 WSTC-AM will broadcast the festival live.

West Indian Cuisine will be available for sale from various area restaurants, including Awesome Sauce, Caribbean Grill, Caribbean Mix It Up, Ethan's Grill, Golden Spoon Jamaican Cuisine, Island Thyme, Jackie's Tropical Fruits, Lennox Cuisine, Mommy's Patties, Murph's Kitchen, Southern Wings & Vintique Jerk & Sunniez Sweetz.

Merchandise vendors will include Kingston Kafe' Krafts, Parker Pampering, Rock 'n Kulture, TW Home Essentials, J & S Fashions, Life Youngevity, Graceavor Handcraft Jewelry, Fun Haven, Rico Suave Accessories & AccessoRehab.

Admission for adults and teens is $5, free for children 12 years old and under.

The West Indian-American Association of Greater Bridgeport is a community-oriented, social organization devoted to helping individuals and groups with limited resources and opportunities. It provides leadership in maintaining and fostering Caribbean culture and excellence in education in the Greater Bridgeport region.
