What's Happening In Peekskill This Week

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Taxes may be due Monday but there are plenty of things to do to lift your spirits in and around the city this week.

Monday, April 30

  • Peekskill Property Taxes Due: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Taxes are due at the assessor's office at city hall by 5 p.m. Peekskill City Hall is at 840 Main St.
  • Teacher in the Library: 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Students can get help with their homework from a certified teacher. The Field Library is at 4 Nelson Ave.

Tuesday, May 1

  • Tax Exemption Due: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Applications and renewals are due at the tax assessor's office at city hall by 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Peekskill City Hall is at 840 Main St.
  • Tuesday Tales: 11 a.m. Stories, songs, finger plays and fun for three, four and five-year-olds. No sign-up required. The Field Library is at 4 Nelson Ave. 
  • Teacher in the Library: 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Students can get help with their homework from a certified teacher. The Field Library is at 4 Nelson Ave.
  • Peekskill Board of Education Work Session:  7 p.m.  The  meeting will be held at the Administration Center. The administrative center is at 1031 Elm St.

Wednesday, May 2

  • Book Babies: 11 a.m. An interactive program for the littlest library lovers (babies up to 3) and their caregivers. Enjoy stories, songs, finger plays, and play time. No sign-up is required. The Field Library is at 4 Nelson Ave.

Thursday, May 3

  • Tales for Tails: 6 p.m. Children in first grade and up are invited (with a parent) to read to a special dog. All volunteer dogs are certified through The Good Dog Foundation.  Signup is required. The Field Library is at 4 Nelson Ave.
  • Dueling Keyboards With Jon Cobert and Dave Keyes at 12 Grapes: 8:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. The two musicians will take the stage at 12 Grapes to perform an eclectic mix of pop and rock covers as well as original tunes. Admission is free. 12 Grapes is at 12 North Division St. 
  • Mark Sinnis at Birdsall House: 10 p.m. Sinnis will perform a free set for patrons. The Birdsall House is at 970 Main St.

Friday, May 4

  • Peekskill Schools Early Dismissal: All district schools will be dismissed early for teacher curriculum conferences. No pre-kindergarten will be held that day. Parents will be notified of their child's dismissal time.
  • Patrick Murphy McDowell at 12 Grapes: 9:30 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. 12 Grapes will host this  6-piece, horn-driven band that promises big funk and country with a lot of jazz on top. Admission is a $5 entertainment Fee for all, including diners. 12 Grapes is at 12 North Division St. 
  • The Flynns at Birdsall House: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. The band will be performing a free set for patrons in the outdoor beer garden. The Birdsall House is at 970 Main St.
