Rowayton Arts Center Opens Popular Exhibit With Community Awards

ROWAYTON, Conn. -- An exhibition with “Community Sponsored Awards” will open at the Rowayton Arts Center on Sunday, May 1.

There will be more than a dozen sponsors and over $2,000 in prizes in seven different categories. The prizes will be awarded in seven categories. The judge is Clare Rogan, who has a doctorate from Brown University and is curator of the Davison Art Center at Wesleyan University in Middletown.

The community-sponsored awards exhibition is one of RAC’s most exciting because of the community support. The exhibition features art in any media, on any theme, and will continue until Sunday, May 29.

The reception on Sunday, May 1, is free and open to the public. It will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Winners of the exhibit will be announced at the reception. 

The artwork is available for purchase. The chairperson is Marcia Powell and co-chair is Phyliss Padro.

Rowayton Arts Center is a place where regional artists may exhibit and sell their art as well as a venue for art workshops and classes.

The RAC Art School offers classes to children and adults at all levels. The RAC Gallery and Art School are located on the bank of the scenic Five Mile River in Rowayton at 145 Rowayton Ave.

Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. For more information, visit www.rowaytonartscenter.org.
