MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. – Families from Fairfield County in Connecticut and Westchester County in New York are invited to walk through a Sunflower Maze at Lyman Orchards in Middlefield through Aug. 25.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, the maze will also feature Buddy, the smart, fun and curious T-Rex from PBS’s "Dinosaur Train." Visitors can see him from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Lymnan Orchards will donate $1 from each admission to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Also at the Sunflower Maze, tethered hot-air balloon rides will be available on Aug.10-11 courtesy of RE/MAX. All monies raised from the hot air balloon rides are donated directly to Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Rides will be $5 per person and begin around 9 a.m.. Rides are limited based upon weather conditions and fuel, and are determined solely by the RE/MAX pilot. Flights are limited to four people per basket and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Sunflower Maze includes more than 350,000 red and yellow sunflowers on about three acres. The average time to make it through the maze is 20-40 minutes, and the maze has raised more than $35,457 for the Pediatric Cancer Unit at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. It is the only Sunflower Maze in Connecticut.
The maze is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 4 – 12 and free for children 3 years and under. Visitors can save $1 per ticket by ordering online at lymanorchards.com, using discount code: mazes.
