Parade Comes To Life: Join The Fun At Stamford's Balloon Inflation Party

STAMFORD, Conn. — Before the 24th annual Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular can step off on Sunday, there's still one big task to complete: inflating the 16 giant, helium-filled balloons.

And on Saturday, the night before the big parade, you can join the fun as Point72 Asset Management hosts a Balloon Inflation Party from 3 to 6 p.m.at Hoyt Street and Summer Street in downtown Stamford. 

The pre-parade event provide a behind-the-scenes look at the balloons as they come to life.

This year's big balloons will include the Very Hungry Caterpillar, Captain Barnacles, Alphonso the Dragon and more.

The Inflation Party will also feature performances starring Bello Nock Comedic Daredevil, dance performances with Locust Performing Arts Center, clowns, holiday characters and a visit from Santa.

The balloons will be inflated and anchored overnight with sandbags, all in preparation for the big event. 

The parade will step off at noon at Summer & Hoyt Streets and head south toward Broad Street. It will then turn east onto Broad Street (toward the Ferguson Library); then right onto Atlantic Street.

The balloons, bands, floats and more will continue on Atlantic Street past the Palace and Old Town Hall before finishing at Atlantic Street and Tresser Boulevard.

The Master of Ceremonies will be TV personality Alan Kalter, returning for his 14th year, and the event will also feature marching bands and comic daredevil Bello Nock.
