The event will feature outdoor field games, interactive sports and fitness demonstrations, educational activities and live performances.

Children will be able to take part in gymnastics and yoga, meet some of their favorite sports mascots from local professional teams, dance the afternoon away at a party featuring local bands, play chess against experts and enjoy a  garden book walk where visitors can exercise their bodies and their brains.

Experts from the community will be available to provide ideas on ways families can take charge of their health.

“In keeping with our Healthy Children, Healthy Communities initiative, we are proud to once again offer this annual free day of play devoted to health-based family fun,” said Rhonda Kiest, president and CEO of Stepping Stones.

“As a children’s museum, we recognize and value the important role of both physical movement and play in a child’s development. That’s why the museum is so dedicated to our popular recurring activities each week, including Zumba Kids, Yoga with Storytelling and Game On! We are looking forward to a spectacular day of play on September 20 and creating special memories for families to take home with them.”

The Worldwide Day of Play enforces the movement to reduce childhood obesity and reinforce lessons about the benefits of healthy lifestyles among children.
