NORWALK, Conn. – Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk is going to the dogs: It will host BooZoo’s Canine Carnival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 14.

This festival is free to attend with paid museum admission. It provides an opportunity for people and animals to connect with one another, under the tent in the museum’s Celebration Courtyard.

“With the launch of our new Express Yourself exhibit, Stepping Stones has placed a heightened focus on social-emotional learning,” said Kim Kuta Dring, director of community teaching and learning at Stepping Stones. “Animals teach children important social and emotional skills such as effective communication, empathy and how to manage emotions. BooZoo’s Canine Carnival is a fun-filled event that promotes emotional intelligence, pet-friendly play, early childhood development, reading literacy and intergenerational learning between children, parents and caregivers.”

Stepping Stones Museum’s own BooZoo, the puppy mascot for early childhood learning and literacy, will be interacting with the crowd during all the events. There will be carnival games for people and dogs, story times, a photo booth, a dog wash, a doggie day spa and much more.

At 11:30 a.m., the Crazy Canine Contest is planned, and prizes will be given for these categories: Best dressed, fluffiest, best smile, best ears, walks with attitude and fastest tail wagger.

Stepping Stones Museum for Children is at 303 West Ave., Norwalk. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Sundays. Admission is $15 for adults and children 1 and older, and $10 for seniors. Military families – active duty military personnel and family members in the same household – will be admitted for free, as part of the Blue Star Museums program.
