The Tony Award-winning musical comedy is one of Broadway's most buzzed-about hits.

This musical comedy follows six young people in the throes of puberty who are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, as they learn that winning isn't everything and losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

The musical is a fully staged and costumed production performed by MTC students in grades 6-10. The performance is directed and choreographed by Jim Schilling, with musical direction by Will Strong and set design by David Heuvelman.

The cast of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is comprised of MTC School of the Performing Arts students, including Hudson Berk, Gabrielle Keusch, Emma Lee, Bridget Looby, Zach Terrillion and Lizzy Tonsberg, of Westport; Jessica Filling, Emily Hoffman, Polly Spelig, Katie Urquhart and Maiya Urquhart, of Fairfield; Tristan Fraise, of Wilton; Chloe Sweitzer, of Rowayton; and Emerson DelMonico, of Milford.

The production will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at The Melissa and Doug Theatre at Music Theatre of Connecticut, 509 Westport Ave.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and reservations are suggested. For tickets, call Music Theatre of Connecticut at (203) 454-3883 or visit www.musictheatreofct.com.
