NORWALK, Conn. -- The Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage has announced four productions for its 2015-16 season at The Melissa & Doug Theatre.
"All four productions are very exciting and range from the fascinating with 'Evita,' to the side-splittingly irreverent David Sedaris and Christopher Durang, to the hip, contemporary 'The Last Five Years.' And all with top, professional Broadway talent," said Executive Artistic Director Kevin Connors. "We couldn't be more thrilled and we think our audiences will be as well."
The 29th season opens Oct. 16 with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony and Oscar winner "Evita," which follows the life of Argentine first lady and champion for the disenfranchised Eva Perón.
On Dec. 11, David Sedaris' "The Santaland Diaries" opens for the holidays. Adapted by Joe Mantello, "The Santaland Diaries" recalls Sedaris' observations from working as a Yuletide elf at Macy's.
The Fairfield County professional premiere of the Tony Award-winning "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" by Christopher Durang follows three siblings and one hot mess.
"The Last Five Years," the season's final offering opens April 8. With music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, "The Last Five Years" deconstructs a love affair and marriage taking place over a five-year period.
