The award-winning youth folk dance troupe from St. Petersburg, Russia, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at The Ridgefield Playhouse. The event is part of the Creative Connections’ “Arts for Understanding” Performance Benefit.
"'Rossijanochka' is comprised of seventeen talented international dancers, ages 9-19. They are regarded for their wonderful variety of lively, intricate, and amazingly acrobatic folk dances. The superb quality of the troupe’s dancing, enhanced by their colorful handmade costumes, has delighted family audiences on their three previous USA tours," representatives said in a press release.
The “Arts for Understanding” patron reception preceding the performance will include a Russian tea samovar service and a Fund-the-Mission live auction, according to the release.
General admission tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for students. Patron tickets are $150, which include Gold Circle seating and a 4 p.m. patron reception. Proceeds from the event will support Creative Connections’ education programs. Tickets can be purchased through The Ridgefield Playhouse website.
The sold-out “Arts for Understanding” tour runs from April 23 to May 10, and includes performances at St. Luke’s High School, Long Ridge School, Ridgefield High School and Stepping Stones Museum for Children.
