Norwalk Symphony Sets Family Concert, Food Drive Over Weekend

NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Symphony has new events coming up including a family concert on Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m., linked to a weekend food drive.

The Symphony plans on going into space with the Norwalk Youth Symphony in a side-by-side presentation of interstellar symphonic standards.

Pieces planned for the performance include Holst's “Jupiter,” John Williams' “Imperial March” and Mozart's Symphony No. 41, known as “Jupiter.”

Jingyi Yang, who recently won the Concerto Competition at the Young Artists Festival, will also be performing Chaminade's “Concertino for Flute and Orchestra.”

Along with the concert, the Symphony is sponsoring a food drive with the League of American Orchestras, on Saturday, March 7 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 8 before the concert starts.

Dry soup, rice, powdered or canned milk, macaroni & cheese, cereal, peanut butter, beans, canned fruit and vegetables, tuna, canned meats, stew, soup, pasta, and fruit juices/sip-sized juices are all requested.

All food can be dropped off at the Norwalk Concert Hall, at Norwalk City Hall on 125 East Ave.
