The special event will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, from noon to 4 p.m. at 295 West Ave.

The two exhibits, “A Magnificent Victorian Holiday at the Mansion” and “Hidden Treasures: Artifacts from the LMMM Collections,” will be on view. Visitors will be able to walk throughout the first floor of the mansion and enjoy the holiday decorations and the rare artifacts on display.

Refreshments, courtesy of Stew Leonard’s, and a Doll & Teddy Bear Victorian Tea will capture, along with the event’s talented performers, the spirit and joyfulness of the season, while giving families an opportunity to enjoy the holiday magic surrounded by the timeless splendor of an iconic mansion.

From 12:30 to 1:15 p.m., the event will feature eight talented musicians from the Suzuki School, who are also member of the Norwalk Youth Symphony, ranging from age 9 to 12. They have been studying music for at least seven years and will perform a repertoire of classical music.

At 1:15 p.m., Santa Claus will make his way into the music room with his elves. A holiday favorite, he will spend a full hour at the mansion greeting children and hearing their Christmas wishes before he heads back to the North Pole.

From 2:15 to 3 p.m. students from the Mathew Surapine Studio will perform a selection of holiday favorites, ranging from classical masterpieces to music from the Great American Songbook.

At 3:15 p.m., The Doll and Teddy Bear Victorian Tea will end the festivities with a flurry of tiaras, stuffed bears, and a bingo with lots of prizes. This event is a fun way for children to experience this national historic landmark right in their own backyard.

Children are encouraged to bring a favorite stuffed animal or a doll and practice good etiquette, as the Mansion continues its tradition of High Tea during the holiday season. Seating for the tea is limited. For tea ticket reservations email info@lockwoodmathewsmansion.com or call 203-838-9799 ext. 4.

General Admission to the Holiday Open House is $5 and tea tickets are $10.

The event is sponsored in part by Stew Leonard’s and Pierson & Smith.
