This month, to recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the couple is dedicating all walks to breast cancer survivors and others impacted by breast cancer.

They invite residents to join them at 8 a.m. Saturday mornings, weather permitting.

To show support for breast cancer awareness, walkers are encouraged to wear pink. “Breast cancer impacts so many people in Norwalk, throughout the country, and around the world,” said Lucia Rilling. “We walk to stay fit, reduce stress and lower our risk for many health concerns. This month, we also walk to shine a light on those people who inspire us with their strength and determination in the face of this serious disease and to raise awareness to all people and our children. We must continue to seek the cure, and it starts with awareness.”

Since June, Rilling and his wife have used the Norwalk Health Department’s NorWalker Program walking routes to lead Norwalk residents on scenic treks throughout the city.

The next walk will be Saturday. Join them for the Jefferson Neighborhood Loop, 1.2 miles, which begins at 8 a.m. at Jefferson Elementary School, 75 Van Buren Ave. Parking is available in the lot next to the school.
