This county-wide event is an initiative to increase charitable giving through a targeted 24-hour period of fundraising. Donations to benefit NCC and other local organizations will be accepted through www.FCGives.org beginning at midnight March 5. Fairfield County Giving Day is sponsored by Fairfield County's Community Foundation and Bank of America.

The county goal is to raise $1 million to benefit hundreds of local nonprofits during a 24-hour period. From midnight March 5 through 11:59 p.m., anyone can go to www.FCGives.org to make a gift to the NCC Foundation, as well as other local charitable causes. All donations to the NCC Foundation will benefit the NCC Student Emergency Fund, which provides resources to students experiencing urgent or unforeseen difficulties. Donations of a minimum of $10 or more can be given through the website by faculty, staff, students, family and friends.

“NCC Foundation looks forward to participating in Fairfield County’s Giving Day again this year,” said Ann Rogers, executive director of NCC Foundation. “We encourage everyone in our college community to make a gift to our Student Emergency Fund, along with contributions to other local nonprofits. Just as important, they can help to spread the word about this special day and the important charitable work it supports.”

Giving Day contributions to NCC also will make the college eligible for challenge awards up to $20,000. Sponsors are continuing to be approached to contribute to, and grow, the prize pool. The top prize of $20,000 will go to the nonprofit organization with the largest number of donations received during the 24-hour period (not necessarily the highest amount raised).

In addition, the first 12 nonprofits to receive 25 gifts of $25 or more will receive a $1,000 prize. This means every donation to NCC counts — regardless of size — will increase the college’s odds of winning a challenge award.
