Norwalk Community College Archaeology Club Welcomes 'Ruins' Author

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Community College's Archaeology Club will welcome author Marilyn Johnson, who will be speaking about her new book, "Lives in Ruins."

The event will be held on Thursday, April 9, in the East Campus Gen Re Forum at 188 Richards Ave. Refreshments will be served in the East Campus Atrium starting at 7:30 p.m. The lecture will start at 8 p.m. Johnson will sign her books, which will be available for sale before the lecture.

Johnson is an archaeology, anthropology and history enthusiast. She took courses, joined digs and tracked archaeologists in the Caribbean; the Mediterranean; Newport, R.I.; Fishkill, N.Y.; Machu Picchu; Deadwood, S.D.; and more. She writes of the passion and grueling work of archaeologists and the race against site destruction by looters, development and war, and the importance of cultural heritage management.

Her newest book, "Lives In Ruins" tells of some of her fantastic journeys and observations.
