A light lunch, including authentic Italian treats, will be provided courtesy of the library. Rizzo’s narrative of Italian immigrants in America looks at one Italian boy’s experiences, which are emblematic of similar struggles and triumphs of many different peoples who left their homelands for varying reasons, and shaped our landscape while forging a new life for themselves and a future for their children. It is an everyman story.

In her discussion of "Thank You for the Shoes," titled, “From Italy to Norwalk with Love,” Rizzo will reveal her knowledge of the Italo-American experience, telling about her extensive travels through the small towns of Italy and the backwaters across the U.S., uncovering elements of culture, customs and language that contributed to the shaping of Italians in America.

A native of the Calabrian region of Southern Italy and raised in Norwalk, Rizzo has worked in the business marketing and communications fields, and won several coveted awards for her work. She and her husband now make Amelia Island, Fla., home, where she serves as the volunteer president of the Amelia Island Book Festival, which runs the noted Authors in Schools Literacy Program, among her other volunteer pursuits.

To register for this program, contact Cynde Bloom Lahey, Director of Library Information Services, at 203-899-2780 ext. 15133, or clahey@norwalkpubliclibrary.org.
