New Milford Shop Makes Sure You 'Doughnut' Forget Leap Year

NEW MILFORD, N.J. — This year is a leap year, and Glaze Donuts in New Milford is making sure it will be extra sweet.

Customers will get a free doughnut with the purchase of four at the River Road shop on Monday, Feb. 29.

The shop is owned by Jule Hazou of Paramus who — despite being the doughnut king — can't touch his delectable delights because of a gluten intolerance.

That won't keep him from the kitchen, though.

"Just because I can't eat them doesn't mean other people can't enjoy them," said Hazou, who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in November 2014.

“Doughnuts are more Americana than apple pie,” he said. “I can’t imagine a family without them.”

Glaze Donuts is located at 358 River Road, in New Milford.
