NORWALK, Conn. -- Miss Connecticut Colleen Ward will be at the Keystone Derby Eve Party at the Norwalk Inn & Conference Center from 6-11 p.m. Friday.
The goal of the event is to support programs for adults with mental illness. Families from all walks of life are affected regardless of age, race, income, religion or education and one out of four families has a relative who has a mental illness.
The evening's festivities will include Larry Cafero as master of ceremonies, Norwalk’s DJ Dom, comedian-magician Charles Hayden and the “Derby Hat Contest." Hat categories for men and woman include most traditional, most creative and largest.
“The hat contest is going to be so much fun with Miss Connecticut as the judge,” said Kim Carter, development officer.
Keystone House is honoring Glen Leblanc, senior vice president at Fairfield County Bank, for his commitment of time, support and inspiration to Keystone for the past 15 years.
Ward is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a degree in elementary education. She works for the Vernon Public School District and aspires to be an elementary school teacher.
She has teamed up with local and national organizations to spread awareness and knowledge about the importance of literacy.
The Norwalk Inn and Conference Center is at 99 East Ave.
