Maritime Aquarium To Show ‘The Hobbit’ In IMAX

NORWALK, Conn. – Fans of director Peter Jackson’s critically acclaimed film version of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic “The Hobbit” will have a chance to view the movie in digitally re-mastered IMAX format beginning Feb. 15 at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

The film will play Fridays and Saturdays at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and on Sundays at 4 p.m., until March 17. The PG-13 movie runs 169 minutes, and tickets are $11.50 for adults, $10.50 for seniors and youths aged 13 to 17, and $9.50 for children aged 3 to 12.

The Maritime Aquarium’s six-story-tall IMAX screen is the largest in Connecticut and features digital sound and the ability to show the film in large, 70mm film format.

“If you see ‘The Hobbit’ in a local cinema, you’ll just be watching Bilbo Baggins’ adventure,” said the aquarium’s marketing director Chris Loynd in a statement. “Come to our immersive IMAX Theater and Bilbo’s adventure will also be your adventure.”
