NORWALK, Conn. -- The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk will host several programs throughout September where families can help feed breakfast to the animals.

"Seal Pups" begins Sept. 15 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and continues on Tuesdays through Oct. 13. At "Seal Pups," preschoolers along with a parent or caregiver get an up-close meeting with a live animal and a story. The cost is $125 for a child and caregiver, or $110 for members. Additional children with the same caregiver are $100, or $90 for members. There is a maximum of 4 children permitted per caregiver.

At "A House for Hermit Crab," preschoolers will examine how hermit crabs look and feel and classify them according to size, movement, shape and other attributes on Sept. 19 and again on Oct. 25. Admission is $25 per child or $20 for members. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

For budding herpetologists between the ages of 5 and 7, "Turtle Town" will examine and compare the turtles of land and sea. Kids will learn how baby sea turtles get to the ocean, meet and touch a live terrapin and more. "Turtle Town" meets Sept. 19 and again on Oct. 25. Participation is $25 per child or $20 for members. This is a drop-off program, so parents and caregivers do not participate.

On Sept. 26, families can assist the marine biologists in their morning breakfast rounds for "Feeding Time." Participants will attend a private feeding of the seals, diamondback terrapins, horseshoe crabs and rays in this behind-the-scenes program. Participation is $50 per adult and $25 per child 12 and under, or $45 and $20 for members. Another "Feeding Time" will be held Oct. 18. Children must be 5 or older to participate.

Children aged 8 to 10 can examine jaws, skin and other artifacts and learn about the adaptations that have allowed sharks to survive for millions of years at "Shark Safari! on Sept. 26. They will also go to the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit to observe the Aquarium's sand tiger sharks and visit the Shark and Ray Touch Pool. Participation for this drop-off program is $25 per child, or $20 for members. Another "Shark Safari!" will be held Oct. 18.

Advance registration is required for all programs. Call (203)-852-0700, ext. 2206 to register, or visit and click under the “Fun & Learning” tab.
