Maritime Aquarium In Norwalk Hosts Live Holiday Music

NORWALK, Conn. – Joyous sounds will blend with Long Island Sound in a special series of live performances at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk on weekends in early December.

“Norwalk is full of very talented young people, and we are excited to welcome them and to let Maritime Aquarium visitors enjoy and appreciate their wonderful works,” said Tom Naiman, the aquarium’s director of education.

All performances are at 2 p.m. and are free with admission to the aquarium.

Here is the schedule of performances:

Students of the Talent Education Suzuki School (TESS) in Norwalk, Saturday, Dec. 6

The TESS Mixed Ensemble will perform classical selections, including pieces by Bach, Giuliani and Paganini.

Students of INTAKE Native Instrument Academy, Sunday, Dec. 7

INTAKE stands for Instrumentally Native Taking on the Classics. INTAKE students will play holiday favorites on native and classical instruments, and also perform as a bilingual choir.

The Norwalk Community College Choir & Jazz/Rock Ensemble; Saturday, Dec. 13

Aquarium visitors will hear such numbers as: a multilingual version of “Let It Go” from “Frozen”; Pink's “Just Give Me A Reason”; “The Circle of Life” from “The Lion King”; and “I Dreamed A Dream” from “Les Misérables.”

NCC’s Jazz/Rock Ensemble formed this fall. The Dec. 13 date at The Maritime Aquarium will be the first public performance by this group of talented and experienced musicians.

The Norwalk Youth Symphony, Sunday, Dec. 14

Maritime Aquarium visitors will be treated to holiday pieces and classical selections performed by three of the symphony's six orchestras: the entry-level Prelude Orchestra conducted by Jessica McNamara, the Philharmonia Orchestral Winds conducted by Mary Gardner, and the mid-level Philharmonia String Orchestra also conducted by McNamara.
