NORWALK, Conn. -- The fifth annual Live Green CT! festival is coming back to Norwalk in September.

Scot Weicker and Daphne Dixon, co-founders of Live Green CT!, announced that the dates for the healthy living and family festival would be Sept. 13 and 14 at Taylor Farm Park in Norwalk.

"Live Green CT! is a magic mix of fun, entertainment and environmental awareness, with something for everyone," representatives said.

“Congratulations on the fifth Annual Live Green CT! event," Norwalk’s Mayor Harry Rilling said. "It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge this important event that allows family and friends the opportunity to be a part of the celebration and enjoy the festivities.

"As responsible citizens, it is incumbent upon all of us to be mindful of ways in which we can 'Live Green’ and do our part in preserving and protecting our environment. Norwalk is proud to be chosen as the site to host this educational and family-oriented event. I truly appreciate the services offered and provided to the residents of Norwalk.”

Live Green CT!  will team up with zero-waste sponsor Sustainable America for the event.

“2013 was the first year that Sustainable America worked with the Live Green CT! team to make the event zero-waste,” said Jeremy Kranowitz, executive director of Sustainable America. “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to partner with them again in 2014.”

Live Green CT! will feature a variety of healthy and local food choices including Skinny Pine’s Pizza, The Stand Juice Co., Cowabunga, Melt Mobile, Maddy’s Food Truck, and Elm Street Kettle Corn as our featured 2014 food vendors.

“We are so happy that we are able to provide a wonderful family destination, with wonderful food, while caring for the environment by having a zero waste event and providing compost to Norwalk’s Fodor Farm community garden," Weicker and Dixon said in a release. “We are very excited that we have so many activities this year including the Maritime Aquarium touch-tank, a variety of fitness demonstrations, as well as exhibits with emerging green technology and also a focus on Norwalk businesses. The festival continues to grow and grow. This year is no exception – it will be bigger, better and greener than previous years.”

Residents can visit the Live Green CT! website to learn more about the healthy-living and family festival.
