NORWALK, Conn. -- As part of Norwalk Public Library’s Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies series, the National Kidney Foundation will present a program called "Kidney Health & How to Become a Living Donor” in the main auditorium at the library.

The program will take place Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 7 to 8 p.m.

One in three Americans are at risk for kidney disease. There are 1,200 people in Connecticut waiting for a kidney transplant. Only 10 percent (120) of those people will receive one before they die.

Speakers will include Karen Corbin, executive director of the National Kidney Foundation; Richard Formica, MD, Department of Internal Medical Nephrology - Renal Transplant Care, Yale; and two altruistic donors, Ned Brooks and Connie Velander.

This program is free and open to the public.
