Ex-Greenwich Cosmetics Manager Hickey Dies at 34

GREENWICH, Conn. - Heather Patricia Hickey, of Greenwich, died March 19 at Greenwich Hospital with her family and boyfriend at her side, after a two-year battle with cancer. She was 34.

Known to many as "Heddy," she was born in Stamford March 15, 1978 to the Hon. William F. Hickey Jr. and Grace (Morrell) Hickey. She graduated from New Canaan High School and attended New Hampshire College. Hickey built a successful career as a sales and marketing executive in the cosmetics and beauty industry.

Hickey and her family documented her struggle with cancer on the blog, Hope For Heddy, which is accepting memorial donations for the "Heather Hickey Fund." In an inspiring post on New Year's Day 2011, Hickey wrote she would not just remember 2010 as the year of her diagnosis, but a year of many cherished events, including her sister's engagement, a return to her beloved Nantucket, Mass. and a special birthday trip to Las Vegas with her boyfriend.

"In 2010, I stopped living every day wanting something more," she wrote. "And finally realized I have everything I could ever want and I have an amazing life."

She is survived by her parents, William and Grace, longtime residents of Stamford and New Canaan; her sister, Sharon (Carl) Sutton of San Francisco, Calif.; her brother, David Hickey of New Canaan; her sister, Courtney (Kevin) Lamoin of Fairfield; and her boyfriend, Christopher Bortot of Greenwich.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. March 30 at St. Michael's Church in Greenwich. Funeral arrangements are under Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home in Stamford.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations may be made to The Bendheim Cancer Center, 77 Lafayette Place Greenwich, CT 06830.
