One LI Man Killed, Another Seriously Injured After Motorcycle Crashes Into Pedestrians

One man was killed and another seriously injured when a motorcycle crashed into two pedestrians on Long Island.

It happened on Friday, Dec. 27 at 6:45 p.m. in Massapequa.

According to Nassau County Police detectives, two pedestrians were attempting to cross Merrick Road southbound just east of Glen Road when they were struck by a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle, which was traveling westbound. 

One pedestrian, a 67-year-old man, suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. 

The other pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and is listed in fair condition. 

The operator of the motorcycle, a 22-year-old man, was airlifted to a local hospital and is in serious condition.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification. The investigation is ongoing.
